Game On! Inaugural AT&T Nation's Football Classicâ„¢ at RFK Stadium Saturday
WASHINGTON, D.C. – A Classic is Marching into D.C.! Events DC today announced the schedule of game day events for the AT&T Nation’s Football Classic™. The inaugural Classic features a renewal of the football rivalry between Howard University and Morehouse College this Saturday at RFK Stadium (3:30 p.m.).
The RFK Stadium Box Office opens at 9 a.m. for ticket purchases, will call pick-up and voucher redemption. Parking lots open at 9 a.m., and gates open at 2 p.m.
Pregame activities on the RFK Stadium field begin at 2:30 p.m. with the Pepsi MAX Pregame Concert featuring Brand Nubian (“Slow Down”), Nice & Smooth (“Sometimes I Rhyme Slow”) and DJ Biz Markie. Local entertainer Raheem DeVaughn (“Believe”) will perform the national anthem and rising musical artist and D.C. native Alison Carney (“You Said”) will sing “Lift Every Voice.” Following the singing of the anthems, D.C. Mayor Vincent C. Gray and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed join together to perform the ceremonial coin toss.
Keisha Knight Pulliam (The Cosby Show) and A.J. Calloway (B.E.T.’s 106 & Park) host the Target Halftime Show, which includes the highly anticipated “Battle of the Bands” between the Howard University ‘Showtime’ Marching Band and the Morehouse College ‘House of Funk’ Marching Band.
The Pepsi MAX Fan Festival, a free festival with games, music and exhibit booths, is open on the RFK Stadium Festival Grounds (Lot 8) from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. The non-stop extravaganza includes appearances by music artists Jermaine Dupri and Da Brat, actors Laz Alonso (Avatar; Jumping The Broom), Lance Gross (House of Payne), Lamman Rucker (Tyler Perry’s Meet The Browns) and Hosea Chanchez (The Game), entertainment personalities Fonzworth Bentley (Making The Band 2, From G’s To Gents) and Angela & Vanessa Simmons (Run’s House), and WKYS jockey Angie Ange.
